Mikkeller Beers
The Gypsy Brewer. The Flyer Brewer. We prefer to call him, The Phantom Brewer.

Why? The brewery MIKKELLER simply does not exist! In the world of beers, Mikkel is a new breed of “phantom” brewers. These brewers do not own any brewery. Instead, they visit different breweries in various countries and brew in the facilities of the host.

Founded in 2006, MIKKELLER was the brainchild of 2 home brewers:Mikkel and Keller, and a result of their passion for great beers. Their goal then was “to challenge the Danes’ taste buds with intense taste adventures”. Years before that, a beer revolution in Denmark had

led to the establishment of many microbreweries. These microbrewed beers, however, lacked quality, spurring the two teachers (yes, they were teachers who loved beers) into action.

From 2006 till now, MIKKELLER has one motto, that is, “to brew the greatest beers”, with no compromise on the ingredients, techniques and quality. As a “phantom” brewer, Mikkel selects and works at facilities best suited to brew specific styles of beer. In every batch, quality must precede quantity. The total lack of production also means MIKKELLER are

extremely rare and hence highly sought after by beer afficionados.

The first MIKKELLER beer that was sufficient in quantity to be commercially available was the BEER GEEK BREAKFAST, an oatmeal stout with excellent balance and big characters of malt, roast and coffee. BEER GEEK BREAKFAST went on to be voted BEST STOUT in 2006,

propelling MIKKELLER to the legendary status he deserves today.

In the same founding year of 2006, MIKKELLER was named “BREWERY OF THE YEAR” by the Danish association, and rated on international beer website Ratebeer.com as 5th BEST

BREWERY IN THE WORLD on its annual RateBeer Best List. This was just the beginning....

Mikkel resonates with The Drinking Partners because like us, he believes in educating people on what they are drinking. On MIKKELLER’s stylish beer labels, you can read the story of the beer, all the ingredients including the hop varietals used in the brew and also Mikkel's picture, for it is important to know the brewer who brought to life… the beer.

For the first time, made commercially available in Singapore, we are proud to present 8 of Mikkeller's labels

Fruit Beers/Lambic
In place of your normal brews, these beers are mixed with fruits to give you a sweet, distinctive flavour and are popular in summertime Belgium.

Often popular among the ladies and those looking for a different kind of beer, this highly-refreshing range is a perfect companion to a good afternoon.

Abbey Beer
Once brewed by monasteries, these beers are now brought back by commercial breweries according to their thousand-year old recipes.

Abbey beers began to reach the market shortly after the Second World War, when secular breweries took commercial advantage of the true cultural heritage of Belgium's monastery brewing traditions, and the growing success of Trappist beers.

Riding on this association, Abbey beers do carry a class of their own.

Ales
Belgium's beer-brewing tradition dates back to the Middle Ages, and today remains a national favourite. With more than 800 labels produced in Belgium alone, The Drinking Partners is proud to carry a selection of the best-regarded beers in the country.

Trappist
Coming directly from the monasteries in the Wallonia region of Belgium are the brews of the world-renowned Orval and Rochefort Trappist houses.

These unique beers are still brewed in accordance with the centuries-old traditions of the Trappist monks. As brewing is still non-commercialised to date, Trappist beers are available in very limited quantity and are highly coveted by enthusiasts. Enjoy every precious drop!

Wheat Beers
Witbier, white beer, is a barley/wheat, top-fermented beer brewed mainly in Belgium.

It gets its name due to suspended yeast and wheat proteins which cause the beer to look hazy, or white, when cold.

It is a descendant from those medieval beers which were not brewed with hops, but instead flavoured and preserved with a blend of spices and other plants referred to as "gruit". It therefore still uses gruit, although nowadays the gruit consists mainly of coriander, orange, bitter orange, and hops.

Lager
A type of beer made from malted barley that is brewed and stored at low temperatures using bottom fermentation.
